CERT program 30th anniversary is great time to say "Thank You" to its volunteers!

The CERT Program 30th Anniversary is being celebrated this week. We think it's a great time to congratulate all the Community Emergency Response Team volunteers who have helped make the program a success year after year.

CERT Program 30th Anniversary conference starts September 8.

This week, California Volunteers has partnered with FEMA, NBCUniversal Studios, and other CERT partners to hold a National CERT Conference in Universal City, CA. Team ProPac members Harry Rollins and Skip Stephenson will be joining about 850 CERT program managers, instructors, and volunteers who are expected at this milestone event! They are looking forward to saying thanks in person.

CERT Conference Information The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) in 1985. The Whittier Narrows earthquake in 1987 underscored the area-wide threat of a major disaster in California. Further, it confirmed the need for training civilians to meet their immediate needs. As a result, the LAFD created the Disaster Preparedness Division with the purpose of training citizens and private and government employees.
