Charleston MRC Trains With Coast Guard at Patriots Point

Wednesday July 12, 2023

The Medical Reserve Corps is an organization consisting of volunteers working to improve and sustain their communities' overall safety and health.

As a national organization, MRC groups all around the country work towards the same goals by implementing their networks and connections to take care of those in their area.

On June 28, the local Charleston MRC group collaborated with the Coast Guard for a day of learning top safety procedures.

The volunteers participated in simulated rescue exercises, teaching the best tactics and techniques for assisting those in need.

Hosted at Patriots Point, the goal of the event was to teach, practice, and instill safety practices in the local organization that will be used to improve the group’s emergency response systems.

Some of the practices included working with Moulage Kits to gain an understanding of working with real body parts.
